Originally from Seattle, Washington, Fr. Eric Nielsen, LC credits his vocation to the grace of God working through the ordinary circumstances of life. “My call was the result of a lot of little things. If I were to nail it down to one thing I would say it was the Rosary that opened me to the call. Then I met Fr. Edward Hopkins in 1991, and the rest is history.”
After being ordained on December 24, 2005, Fr. Eric spent nine years exercising his priestly ministry in the Philippines. The first eight of these years he served as Regnum Christi Young Men’s Section Director and ECYD Assistant. This consisted primarily of young adult and youth ministry and spiritual direction. He led many youth retreats and missions, and helped the community found and direct Conquest boys’ clubs and Mission Youth Apostolate. During his ninth year he acted as chaplain to Everest Academy in Manila.
Following his time in the Philippines, Fr. Eric moved to Yonkers, NY where he acted as Youth minister at St. Peter’s-St. Denis Roman Catholic Church for a period of two years.
He has most recently been assigned to the Novitiate and College of Humanities of the Legionaries of Christ in Cheshire, CT where he has served as chaplain to the local Regnum Christi sections and development officer for the seminary. He now serves as chaplain to Regnum Christi in the Tri-State region.
